Our School
Holy Family Primary School Doveton
Holy Family is a proud Catholic co-educational Primary School, established in 1960. We educate students from Prep to Year Six. We are a team of highly credentialed staff, who continually aim to improve outcomes for our students.
We welcome people of all cultures and faith traditions to be a part of our school community.
MACS Governance Statement
Holy Family Doveton is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).
MACS governs and operates Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge,
skills, and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.
Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between
schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
More information about MACS is available at www.macs.vic.edu.au.

Our History
Holy Family School was established in February 1960 to provide a Catholic education for the children of Doveton.
The suburb of Doveton was developed to provide housing for the workers of the Industrial Area of Dandenong on Princes Highway at the end of Power Road. Enrolments peaked in the late 1960s/early 1970s, with in excess of 600 pupils, a stark contrast to the opening enrolment of 67 and the current enrolment of 100 students.
Our students and their families come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, with many of our families having a parent who was born overseas. This diversity of countries indicates a significant multicultural population.
Our school has started to reconnect with many previous students, with our stall at the Doveton Show being a place where many in the community shared their experiences of the school.
All former students are always welcome to contact the school, and we are seeking to connect with our alumni, to celebrate the achievements of those who started their journey at Holy Family.
Vision
Every student is inspired and empowered to be the light in the world
School Philosophy Statement
At Holy Family we lead improvement through powerful learning and positive relationships, empowering all to flourish.
Be the Light
The Holy Family Charism Be the Light is based on the work and life of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters, who started Holy Family School in 1960. Nano Nagle is known as the Lady of the Lantern for her visits to the sick and elderly at night under the light she carried.
The students of Holy Family are called to consider how they can ‘Be the Light’, in their daily lives, just like Nano.

Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club opens at 8:20am every day, this is the place that ensures our students start the day right. Students are treated to toast, fruit and sometimes waffles!
We thank St Vinnies who support this project to ensure that all of our students can start the day well.
Beyond food, students can also play with toys and games with friends. They can even get their energy going with music and dancing. Not just a place for food, this place is about connection!
Our playground is open from 8:35am with students being supervised by a staff member.
Classrooms open at 8:40am.
