Our Community
Holy Family Primary School Doveton
We are committed to being an important part of the Doveton community. We connect with many organisations, to ensure that our students and families understand the opportunities that are available to them.
Within our school, we provide regular opportunities for families to come together, and encourage families to visit Breakfast Club, or visit that classroom at the end of the day.
Community Partnerships
We are constantly seeking community partners that allow both organisations to thrive. We have connections with:
-
St Vincent de Paul - Breakfast Club and family support
-
St. John’s College - Big Buddy Program
-
Doveton Library - Library visits
-
ARDOCH - Charity that brings exceptional experiences to our students
-
Monash Health - Eat Well Program
Parent Advisory Committee
Our parents are key stakeholders in our school. We meet with our Advisory Group once a term to ensure that we are communicating what we are working towards and reflect on what has been happening. We ask these parents’ opinion on a number of matters, and encourage them to find out further information from our community. We encourage these parents to advocate for families and raise any concerns they have, or have become aware of. Current members of the advisory committee are:
-
Caroline Knight - Chair
-
Linda Rusi - Secretary
-
Jayan Chacko - Parish Representative
-
Serah Lemalu
-
Ghowsalya Mahendrarajah
-
Marnie Lambden Grant - Staff Representative
-
Paul Sharp - Principal
-
Fr John Prince - Parish Priest
Get Involved
We would like our families to be involved in our school. We will be creating opportunities for our families to volunteer and visit classrooms more often. All volunteers must have a current Working With Children Check.
Leap into Learning
Leap into Learning is a play based school readiness playgroup.
All children aged 3 to 5 years are welcome. This group runs every Friday of the school term.
Parents stay with their children and engage in a range of activities that are based on developing the skills necessary to succeed at school, including:
-
Fun Maths - playing games, sorting, counting
-
Art and craft, playdough
-
Book borrowing from our own Playgroup Library
-
Story time with a Teacher or Playgroup Facilitator
-
Outside play - for familiarisation of school grounds
The other advantages of the program are that it allows younger children to become familiar with a primary school setting and visit the Prep classrooms regularly.
St Vinney's
We are grateful to St Vincent de Paul Holy Family Doveton for their support. They assist some of our families and support our Breakfast Club. We acknowledge their contribution and recognise their dedication. We commit to support this great charity where we can, which aligns to our curriculum focus on Catholic Social Teaching Principles.
Support for Families
If any of our Families need support, they should contact either Paul Sharp or Glenis Cheyne, and support can be organised in a confidential manner. This could include donations of food or supporting families to complete government documents.
We pride ourselves on being able to go the extra step for our families.
